Mrs. Mary Thomas, known all over the city as “Funeral Mary,” died at Maryland General Hospital on Thursday of last week, from burns received at her home, 904 Druid Hill avenue. Mrs. Thomas gained the sobriquet from her mania for attending funerals. It is said that she had attended hundreds of funerals.

Whenever Mrs. Thomas could she always went to the cemetery, whether the deceased was known to her or not. It is said that she got to a funeral once just in time to get in a hack, and after she had seated herself in the hack, she shouted to the driver: “Say! Whose funeral am I going to?”

Mrs. Thomas was over 70 years of age.

Her funeral took place from Sharp Street Memorial Church last Sunday afternoon. Interment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
