Mrs. Lottie Pitts of 213 S. Green st., beloved wife of David C. Pitts, departed this life in full triumph of faith on Wednesday, May 20th, at 2 a.m., after a long and tedious spell of nine month’s duration. Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ananias Brown of Leadenhall Street Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Jno. Scott of  Waverly, her former pastor. Rev. Brown spoke from the following words: “Though He slays me yet will I trust Him,” which was the request of the deceased, which was further carried out by singing
 
And am I born to die,
To lay this body down?
 
Truly a Christian is gone from us; truly a mother is gone. Funeral at the church. She leaves a husband, three sons, one daughter and one grandchild. The daughter is Mrs. N.B. Tomlyn general secretary of the True Reformers, Maryland Division; one of the sons is Rev. James A. Pitts, now of Albany, N.Y. Deceased was 53 years old. Interment at Sharp St. Cemetery.
